New BMCA Chief Nelson Guma relives his gorilla tracking experience I have been wondering how best I can describe my experience of tracking gorillas. Newly handed the mantle of ensuring conservation of the critically endangered gorillas, you are always curious to get up close and get a better understanding ...of one of your key conservation targets. As if they knew I was also in - charge of them, the Rushegura gorilla family which ranges closer to our camp paid a visit on my planned tracking date understandably to avoid being charged with insubordination!

Nshongi stable despite reduction in population Nshongi family until recently the biggest habituated group in the world with 36 members, is relatively stable and peaceful despite losing nine members to the break away Misahya family in July,2010. The family range is quite challenging lately as visitors have to go over many hills and valleys for commendable hours before reaching them. When not up there in trees, valleys are some of their favourite hang outs.
